The Sierra Nevada de Güicán, El Cocuy, and Chita are home to some of the highest snow-capped peaks in Colombia. If you’re wondering where to find snow in Colombia, this is one of the places you must visit.

This mountain range is located within the El Cocuy National Natural Park, spanning the departments of Boyacá, Casanare, and Arauca. It holds the largest glacial mass in the country, consisting of more than 20 snow-capped peaks.

Within this park, there are ecotourism trails:

  1. The Lagunillas Trail leading to the Pan de Azúcar Peak and the Devil’s Pulpit.
  2. The Laguna Grande de la Sierra Trail that reaches the Cóncavo Peak.
  3. The Ritacuba Blanco Trail ending at the snowline of the highest peak in the range.

All these trails terminate at the snowline, and none allow stepping on the snow.
